Concrete Jungle

After looking into the Lako Bukia collection from Vauxhall Fashion Scout, I was interested by the monochrome colour scheme which would feature highly in my City Slickers trend. It made me think of industrial materials and the kinds of colours and structures that would be found in a city location.

These photos make me think of busy city life, and the bright lights and tall concrete blocks that are the norm in everyday life. Fashion is different in a city as well, especially when comparing to tribal wear and patterned prints. And just like technology, city and urban fashion is constantly changing and expanding.

Looking at images like this, clear trends in the city, similar to the Lako Bukia 'Broken Mirrors' collection, often include jagged and geometric leather, pencil skirts and strong structured jackets.

As well as this, lots of urban fashion photography contrasts the city location with warm colours and feminine or soft textured clothing.

And finally, this editorial photo for Chanel sums up how I feel about the materials, lighting and structure of city and urban clothing, as well as the whole theme itself. I feel that the followers of the City Slickers trend will wear clothing similar to the shape shown here. As well as the use of leather and harsh structure to the shoulders seen in the jackets.
