A Depressed Population

The Rick Owens Autumn Winter 2012 show shocked it's audience as it began with a burst of flames at the head of the catwalk. Models wore masks and netting, as well as impressive leather ensembles. The looks were dark and sinister, with only some hints of fiery colour.

This show, to me, resembles what fashion might look like if my prediction came true. Although this half of the population would be filthy rich and living a life of luxury, they would also be in a state of depression; half of the population have been forced to live in squaller, and people are therefore career obsessed, forever hoping that they will not be subjected to this life through bankruptcy. Fashion would be darker, with simpler materials, represented by the dark and brooding masks and netting worn by the models.
